We support universities and higher education institutions in teaching digital factory planning through hands-on learning. Our Academic Program combines free software licenses, online certification courses, and ready-to-use teaching materials for lectures, lab courses, practical training, and other academic coursework.

Certificate Courses for Lecturers

Tailored Teaching Content

The documentation of the case study is divided into lessons that follow the factory planning process top-down. All materials can be used by you in the course of your lectures without any restrictions.

Shaping Education Actively

Vividly work through the planning steps of a factory – from the preparation of the production program to the design of the hall layout – within a modern 2D and 3D environment.

Rapid Implementation in Teaching

Upon participation in the certificate course, lecturers receive a case study. This was developed at the HTW Berlin under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Prêt. It is oriented toward practice-relevant questions of current factory planning projects.

Complimentary Software License Pools within the Framework of Certificate Courses

The complimentary university license pool includes 25 seats per institution. The duration of the license pool is predefined at 2 years starting from the first course participation. Within this period, lecturers have the opportunity to participate in a complimentary certificate course (webinar) again. Successful participation extends the duration of the license pool by 2 years.

Scope and Content

In this certificate course, which takes the form of an online seminar, we provide you as a lecturer with the fundamentals of the visTable® software based on a case study that you are welcome to integrate into your teaching later on. The case study can be used as a student internship project. Students work actively with visTable®, if they wish on their own Windows device.

The course is directed exclusively at lecturers of recognized educational institutions (colleges, universities, or equivalent) and is free of charge for them.

The following methods and analytical tools can be taught using this case study

  • Layout optimization with block layouts (Schmigalla)
  • Material flow visualization (distance-intensity diagram and layout-bound Sankey diagram)
  • Logistics evaluation (transport performance and cost analysis)
  • Space balancing and utilization rate
  • Process modeling (based on value stream analysis)
  • Presentation and visualization in Virtual Reality

visTable® opens the door to the innovative concept of participatory factory planning. This provides you with the immediate opportunity to conduct high-quality student education. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Tip: Students can also access a dedicated licensing program for academic papers and theses, primarily aimed at applications in small and medium-sized manufacturing companies.
